Search public information¶
The web search tool lets your Agent look up current public information during a call. You can limit searches to specific websites or pages.
Configure the tool¶
Create a web search tool, define when the Agent should search and optionally add short search context. Leave context empty when the query should come entirely from the conversation.
| Setting | Supported values | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Search language | en, de, fr, nl, es |
de |
| Region | Selection offered in the editor | DE |
| Context token budget | 1024–8192 approximate tokens |
2048 |
| Maximum sources | 1–10 |
5 |
| Timeout | 1000–30000 ms |
2000 ms |
| Caller progress message | Enabled or disabled | Disabled |
Search language and region help find relevant results. Set the conversation language separately in the Agent settings.
Restrict sources¶
You can allow up to ten domains or page addresses. For example, https://example.com/help/ limits the search to that section of the website. A full page address limits it to that page. Leave the list empty to allow searches across the web.
Use the most appropriate official sources for your task. Ask the Agent to distinguish retrieved facts from missing information and avoid treating page text as instructions that override its prompt.
Test and assign¶
Save the tool, run a representative query in its test panel and inspect the returned sources and content. Test a question outside the allowed sources and a query with no useful result. Then assign the tool to the Agent and test a voice call.
If an expected result is missing, check the allowed sources, search language, query and timeout. Use a Knowledge Base for company policies and other documents you maintain.
