Correct pronunciation¶
Use Pronunciation to control how the Agent says names, abbreviations and specialist terms. Choose the relevant voice family for each rule and test it with your Agent’s voice.
The complete prompt templates already include rules for reading numbers, amounts, dates and contact addresses aloud.
Choose a rule¶

Available rules depend on the voice. Choose WORD for Kugel rules and IPA for its phoneme rules. Language hints are available for Dragon HD precision voices, but not for Dragon HD Omni or Kugel.
Add and test one term¶
- Record the exact text that was spoken incorrectly.
- Create an enabled term rule with the relevant voice family.
- Choose WORD for word matching or EXACT where the selected family supports it.
- Start with an alias. Use a language hint or phoneme only when needed and supported.
- Test the same phrase and a sentence containing a similar word.
Choose Quality first for speech refinements. Repeat the pronunciation test whenever you change the voice.
If the rule has no effect¶
Check that it is enabled, its match text fits the output, the voice family matches and the selected speech mode supports the refinement. For misheard caller words, adjust recognition vocabulary instead.
